Blue Hat Technique #10-Teaching The Crawlers To Run

One thing that can be learned only by running quite a few websites at once is the differences in how the bots treat sites different. One of the biggest differences is how often they pull your pages, and how often they update your site in the index. One day while browsing through my different stats, I noticed how certain sites get updated in the indexes daily and some get updated monthly. Some sites that only have about 1,000 links get hit by Googlebot 700times/day while some others that have over 20,000 links only get hit about 30 times/day. This inspired me to begin an experiment.

Neat Backlink Analysis Tool

Here’s kind of a neat backlink analysis tool. It provides some good information.

Alexa Cheat

This has really nothing to do with SEO, but I thought I’d throw it in for the hell of it. Infact this really isn’t even useful, it’s just cool and neat on how it works.

In the Google FAQ it talks about the rel=”prefetch” command. This command(supported by both new versions of firefox and IE) in a sense forces the user to click on a link. The user doesn’t actually go to the link; their browser just fetches the url. The idea behind this is to make the next page download faster, assuming they do click on it. This is really only useful for splash pages. Ie. Click here to enter pages.

Review of Link Fetcher

Link Fetcher is a free tool from FromShawn.com that searches for sites using Link Manager. Then uses that list to create a set of pages with all the links on them. Once you upload all the pages to your site you can open the files and Link Fetcher will automatically submit your site to all of the sites.

Before I let you know what exactly is going on with this tool I wanted to mention how bad I feel for the guy who developed these tools. He released them for free on his site and only asked that people spread the word about them in exchange for having them for free. He got flicked sooo much shit for this. He eventually just started giving them all out without requiring people to use their referral URLS they were given. This was good because his script wasn’t working in the first place. This was also good because it shut up the wining bitches that weren’t happy enough getting something for free. As much as I want to rant about this I will stop and keep my feelings on what the world is coming to, to myself.

Blue Hat Technique #9-Synergy Links

Since Synergy Links are aren’t a topic that I have ever seen discussed I will attempt to define and coin the term.

Definition:

Synergy Links-Channeling links so that their combined effect is greater than the sum of their individual effects. Channeling reciprocal links through third party pages in order to improve the quality/SEO impact of the links.

The idea is simple. Take shitty reciprocal links and use them to build credit to a page outside of your site which provides a quality link to yours. In other words, since search engines don’t like reciprocal links, so use them to gain quality links.
